For…Environmental Policy 340 /summer 2011

Today is the last day of Environmental Policy 340 /summer 2011 Class .

Tell you the truth, my feeling on the first day and the last day of this class is absolutely different.

On the first day, I didn’t know what to expect from this class, and I thought most information will only apply to the environmental policies in the U.S.  Well, do I have another choice? my thought asked myself.   “Why you have to have many choices in your life?,” the other side of my thinking questioned.

Just go on and hang on each day to face whatever comes up to you to learn, make it works, make it well, and make it through the end. I gave myself the final conclusion.

Day by day I went to this class, after video by video that Dr.Darrell Downs brought to show us in the classroom, after lecture by lecture that I learned from him, I did not know that something slowly grows insides my thought.

Sincerely, I wish this class to be the requirement course for all college students to take, because it more than just environmental policies, but it is our responsibilities to know, to understand, and to care our planet that we are living now.

All pollution from industries around the world, all toxic chemical, and all different kind of waste that we throw away to the Mother Nature, is the huge cemetery that we are building for ourselves, and it is almost done now.  However, it is not too late to cure, if all of us, the people of the world, will share sincerity, true love, and true hearts together put all effort to improve our environment problems here and there.  I have confident that everything will be better, if we really try hard and work hard together now.

Instead, building the fastest technology, or finding the best way to make profits from all kind of industrial products, please slow down.  Then ask yourself that if you gain the whole profits in this world, what you are going to do with your wealthy while every day of your life you and your family have to live in the toxic rivers, breath the polluted air, share sickness and different kind of strange disease to each other, and deal with the disaster from the results of environmental problems here and there.  Do you really want the world to be like that in the near future?

If your answer say NO, then we must do something right NOW and do not wait any longer for the miracle to happen.  Because NOW the world is in the critical condition, it is your decision to decide, should we CARE or CARELESS to this problem?

On the last day of class, I would like to thank you to Dr.Downs and all of my classmates in sharing your concern, your love, and your good wishes in environmental problems and policies for me to learn in this class.  Thank you for seeding the idea of environment concern to grow in my mind.  Someday I will carry on these seeds back to my country, Thailand. I will try my best to make them continue in growing wherever I go.

I know it takes time, and it is challenging, but I cannot let these seeds die in my hands as long as I have time to live on earth.  It is a small step from today, but many small steps together can make long mileage tomorrow  and other days .

Summer Class in the sunny day. (Dr.Downs with sunglass).
