Someone asked me, “If you could go back in time, will you do that?” I didn’t answer because it took me longer to think about this question.
The road of life is not the interstate highway that allow anyone to go back and to repeat his or her driving anytime. The road of life is composed of many experiences that come through, both happiness and suffering.
Of course, everyone wants to go back to that happy time as many time as he or she wants. How about a time of trouble or suffering? Where would it should go? How to remove it and to leave no trace in the past?
That means that if we could return to the old time again, then we would have to repeat days of joy and days of sorrow. It’s worth to go back several times, if we have had all happy lived. However, would we like to repeat in spending time of struggling and suffering on those days too? Is it worth to go back to suffering again?
Luckily, in reality, life cannot go back in time to the past. God gives the memory for all of us to record our past. Memory can be used to revisit the past many times as we want. Many people use those memories as a reminder, or as a lesson in living for the present moment to improve his or her everyday life and also to use all past experiences to apply the benefits to enhance the value of life. This is also possible to help others learn the various aspects of life too.
However, there are some people do not want to remember their mistake in the past and keep on their living as they used to. In the same time, they always blame and accuse the others for their faults and never pull themselves out of troubles. Similar to a man who falls into a deep hole, instead of trying to get out of the hole, he just sits and groans at the bottom hole to wait for the miracles to occur. It doesn’t matter how many times that his family and friends try to give advice how to climb up from the deep hole, he just ignore. Nothing we can do for this type of people.
If someone asks me, “If you could go back in time, will you do that?” Absolutely, I will not. Why? Because no one knows how much time for this life will last long, why should I waste my present time to repeat the past that I already done. Let’s go ahead and get better. Life has much more to do than to find the way back to the past. Although those days may have had many beautiful memories, no one can be backward, only forward to the destination that God sets for each of us.
In this world, I just want to enjoy every moment in the present with awaking mind so that my walking on this life path will be the wonderful adventure for me. It doesn’t matter the good or the bad days will come, all are about life learning in different chapters and I’m ready to learn from the beginning until the ending.
How about you, if you could go back in time, will you do that?
